In just 40 days of Moses’ absence, Israel abandoned the God who delivered them, trading His glory for a golden calf. How could they forget so quickly—after miracles, manna, and mercy? Perhaps it was ignorance, ingratitude, or simply the pull of old habits and sinful desires. Maybe it was failed leadership. Likely, it was all of these. Moses makes a remarkable intercession for the people’s great sin. The marvel isn’t just their fall—it’s God’s response. Though grieved, He didn’t forsake them. His grace still reached for their hearts. Their story is ours: weak, forgetful, prone to wander. But God remains faithful. Even in our rebellion, His love calls us back to Himself.

"Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, 'Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold! Yet now, if You will forgive their sin-but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written'" (Exodus 32:31, 32, NKJV).
