This lesson draws us into Paul’s urgent counsel on two closely related dangers in the Christian life: sexual immorality and idolatry. As 1 Corinthians moves from chapters 5–7 into chapters 8–10, Paul shows that both sins compete for the heart and pull believers away from wholehearted devotion to God. Having taught that we flee immorality by remembering we are temples of the Holy Spirit, Paul now reveals how we flee idolatry—by living every part of life to the glory of God. His message remains deeply practical and spiritually searching for believers today.
1 Corinthians 8; Acts 15:20; 1 Cor. 9:1-6; 1 Cor. 10:5-22; Deut. 6:4, 5; Mark 12:28-31.
"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31, NKJV).
